Voter Apathy

Voter participation used to be good until the instability of the economy was fixed and americans now felt safe. Most college grad would go and vote and a lot of highschool kids werent going to college.

But once those insecurties were fixed i think americans got to comfortable and just thought that the government could take care of it self no matter who was in office so the over all voters decreased do to lack of interest.

The Electoral College

I agree with the electoral college because it seems that the huge majority just tell a smaller majority what they want them to vote for. One bad thing is if a president gets a lot of popular votes but the other guy gets the bigger states the one with more state votes would win.

secton reviews

In section one it talks abouut how the party not in power ctitiques the party that is in power. this is good because the party in power then has to be more carful and not as loose with policies or they will be not reelected because the non power party will take office.

The two party system in the US talked about in section 2 is very important because it make the poltitians be more competetive and overall a better leader for office.

The third section talks about how the two parties have dominated office at certain time periods. when a party dominates the office it makes the other work hard to get back to office. the party in office shows the view of the people during that time period.

In section four minor parties play a big role in usetting the two major parties. the minor parties can somtimes take votes away from one of the major parties and in the end get a different person elected.

In politics, voter apathy is a term used to describe a perceived apathy (lack of caring) among voters in an election. Voter apathy is often cited as a cause of low turnout among eligible voters.

To register to vote is different in every state but most requirements are personal information like address and length of residence.

http://www.massgreens.org/
This is like an evironmental group and it is good cause you would support preservation of the evironment, and bad because this is a ver small unoticed party.

http://www.selfgovernment.us/
This is a site about a party that is black and white with laws and there is no grey areas. Good would be criminal justice and bad would be sentancing of minor crimes to lots of time.

history of the parties

The United States Republican Party is the second oldest political party in the United States after its  rival, the Democrats. It began in 1854 to combat the Kansas Nebraska Act which threatened to extend slavery into the territories, and to promote vigorous modernization of the economy. It had almost no presence in the South, but in the North it enlisted most former Whigs and former Free Soil Democrats. With the election of Abraham Lincoln in 1860, and its success in guiding the Union to victory and abolishing slavery, it came to be the dominate party until 1932. The Republican Party was based on northern white Protestants, businessmen, professionals, factory workers, wealthier farmers, and blacks. It was pro-business, supporting banks, the gold standard, railroads, and high tariffs to protect heavy industry and the industrial workers.
The Democratic Party of the United States is one of the oldest political party in the United States and arguably the oldest democratic party in the world. It dominated American politics during the Second Party System, from 1832 to the mid-1850s. Both parties used patronage extensively to finance their operations, which included emerging big city machines, national networks of newspapers. The party was a spokesman for farmers across the country, urban workers, and new immigrants. It encouraged Manifest Destiny, greater equality for all white men, and opposition to a national bank.
If I were to pick a party I would pick the Republicans in the past, present, and future. I chose the Republicans because i like what they support and Abe Lincoln was my favorite president.

The U.S. Constitution establishes a government based on "federalism," or the sharing of power between the national, and state governments. Our power-sharing form of government is the opposite of "centralized" governments, such as those in England and France, in which national government has all the power. While each of the 50 states has its own constitution, all provisions of state constitutions must agree with the U.S. Constitution.
The Federalist Party was the first American political party, from the early 1790s to 1816 with remnants lasting into the 1820s. The Federalists controlled the federal government until 1801.
The party was formed by Alexander Hamilton, who built a network of supporters, largely urban bankers and businessmen. These supporters grew into the Federalist Party committed to a sound and nationalistic government. The United States' only Federalist president was John Adams.
Federalism is still a very important part of the U.S. today and it is what keeps the government in check and out of total control.
